The Story behind the Lil’ Moo Klubhouse

The Lil’ Moo Klubhouse was inspired by Moo, a 5-month old female white German Sheppard, Wolf and Blue Hawaiian Pit Bull.  Moo’s owner, Suzan Kimberly, adopted her on the last day of 2006, the Chinese “Year of the Dog”.

“Before Moo”, recalls Suzan, “I would get my daily exercise by walking to my neighborhood retail shopping center.  I would do my banking, check my mail at the post office, pick-up a few items in the grocery store, all without getting into my vehicle. After Moo arrived, I found that my routine and lifestyle was severely interrupted. For the most part, public places will not allow a dog inside the premises. Secondly, in California, it is now illegal to leave your pet unattended in a vehicle (State Bill 1806); or tethered to a post for more than (3) three hours (State Bill 1578).

In Aspen, Colorado I witnessed the treatment a dog endured while tied up outside a restaurant, and left unattended. A family of four was passing by eating ice cream when the little boy spotted Sol, a local Golden Retriever.  The boy started teasing Sol with his ice cream waving it around, holding it at arms length so the dog could not reach, etc.  Sol started barking uncontrollably while the parents stood laughing and encouraging the boys disrespectful behavior.  The incident had left me speechless. It also concerned me that someone could walk right up and take Sol. After all, he was a friendly dog, and who would know if that was the real owner! At that point I knew I would never leave Moo unattended, but still felt guilty about leaving her at home.

It was then the Lil’ Moo Klubhouse epiphany hit me.  Provide a secure environment for dogs while their owners shop or dine.  It has evolved from there!”
